'Mighty Oaks From Little Acorns Grow'
Reflections on Our First Month at 'OakWell Education'
Just over a month since launching 'OakWell Education', we take a moment to
reflect on an inspiring period of growth, collaboration, and learning. From
English and Psychology teaching to ALN support, safeguarding, and coaching, our
first weeks have been a reminder that from small beginnings, great things truly
can grow.

A little over a month ago, 'OakWell Education' was launched. A small acorn planted with great hopes and a clear purpose: to make a meaningful contribution to the world of education. As we take a moment to reflect, it is remarkable to see how much growth and learning have already taken place in these early weeks.
Much of our initial work has focused on English teaching, alongside an unexpected yet thoroughly rewarding return to Psychology. Re-engaging with this subject has been a genuine pleasure — a reminder of how powerful it can be in helping learners understand both themselves and others. We have also continued our work supporting learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and delivering safeguarding training, two areas that are central to our ethos of inclusion, wellbeing, and educational integrity.
What has perhaps surprised us most is the diversity of contexts in which we have been invited to contribute. We find ourselves delivering safeguarding training outside of school environments as well as providing one-off lessons to support students prior to controlled assessments, we have found ourselves continually adapting to meet different needs. This flexibility has been both challenging and energising, reinforcing our belief that education thrives when it is responsive and collaborative.
Engaging with a range of exam specifications has added further depth to our work. Exploring different assessment frameworks has offered fresh perspectives on familiar material and opened new possibilities for teaching and learning. These experiences have underscored the importance of adaptability — a theme that has run through all aspects of 'OakWell Education's' first month.
Another significant area of development has been coaching. Having recently qualified as both a life coach and a neurodiversity coach, the benefits of coaching are already evident in our practice. Supporting individuals to build self-awareness, confidence, and purpose has proven deeply rewarding. The process of qualification itself was also a valuable reminder of what it feels like to be on the receiving end of education — particularly during that challenging final exam, which brought back vivid memories of assessment anxiety. It served as a timely lesson in empathy; reinforcing the importance of understanding the learner's perspective.
Above all, we are profoundly grateful for the trust that so many have already placed in us — schools, families, and professional partners who have welcomed our involvement and shared our vision for education that is both rigorous and compassionate. That trust is something we value deeply, and it inspires us to keep striving for excellence in all we do.
The saying goes that 'mighty oaks from little acorns grow', and 'OakWell Education's' early journey is already proof of that truth. From small beginnings, strong roots are taking hold — nurtured by curiosity, commitment, and collaboration. We look forward to seeing where this growth will lead, and to continuing to serve the learners, educators, and communities who make our work so meaningful.
Thank you to everyone who has supported 'OakWell Education' in its first month. If you would like to learn more about our work — or explore how we might be able to support your school, organisation, or learners — please don't hesitate to get in touch.
